AROS RIVER

Aros river, Isle of Mull

Glenaros has the fishing rights for the lower two miles of the Aros River, which is a very attractive spate river with runs of salmon and sea trout and the occasional Brown Trout. It is readily fished with the fly and we prefer that it is fished with the fly and not by spinning or worming.

As the river is shared with the Whitehouse, the river is divided at the one mile point into the Upper and Lower Water which are fished on alternate days. There is no Sunday fishing.

ROCKETY-ROCK TROUT POND

Rockety-Rock trout pond on Glenaros Estate

Situated half way to Salen village, this spring-fed pond was created in 1990 at the time of the re-planting of the wood. It was stocked with small Brown Trout in 1992 and in 1997 two fish weighing two and a half pounds each were caught.

The pond is now stocked with Rainbow Trout weighing over one pound but it is possible that there may still be some of the original Brown Trout waiting to surprise us!

Permits are sold either by the day or the week to visitors staying at Glenaros Farm Cottages. These may be obtained from Andy and Isabel MacFarlane at Glenaros Farm.

An intermediate line is recommended. Anglers may keep two fish per day and the remainder should please be returned; please let us know how many you have caught.
